I came to the Garden this morning, alone. And was refreshed. It felt as if the flowers were more than just flowers. They were friends, they were inspiration, they were singing glory.

Flower Friends

Possibility

The moment I saw this flower I was reminded of the possibility for all things.

Possibility abounds everywhere. In Zana Briski's Born Into Brothels, she documents the lives of nine kids born into the worst of circumstances who have so much to offer. So much joy, so much talent and promise. And possibility.

In the Key School at Carolina Day, everyday the teachers are uncovering the beautiful minds and possibility of the kids with dyslexia and language based learning issues. They believe in the kids, in their abilities to excel and are armed with the knowledge of how to grow the potential of these kids, much like a gardener knows how to grow a beautiful flower. So much possibility abounds.

Joy in the Shadows

I can't tell what joy it is to see the flowers in the garden, to walk among the flowers, to feel as if they were friends, to find little surprises that remind that flowers are so mighty.

Flowers have spoken to me more than I can tell in written words. They are the hieroglyphics of angels, loved by all men for the beauty of their character, though few can decipher even fragments of their meaning

Fountain of Blessings

Another surprise. Whenever I feel stressed I go to the Garden. This last year my kiddo was diagnosed with dyslexia. Since then the blessings have been many. This fall while she tried a school in Raleigh, I skipped out for a trip to the Raleigh Rose Garden where many surprises awaited. This flower reminded that fountains of joy flow in our lives.

"If kings would only determine not to extend their dominions until they had filled them with happiness, they would find the smallest territories too large, but the longest life too short for the full accomplishment of so grand and so noble an ambition."
