I love the darkness and light together. The darkness of the night and of winter feels like a smooth warm blanket comforting our souls. The white of the flower feels like the soul arising, smooth petals laughing with joy. I photographed this flower in the Raleigh Rose Garden, a place I have loved for years. In college, I used to go there to relax and rejuvenate my soul. This flower reminds me in the dark days of winter, when it's cold and that weight of the darkness and cold bears down on us, the brilliance of nature awaits us.

A Bright New Day - New Year's Eve
I love the darkness and light together. The darkness of the night and of winter feels like a smooth warm blanket comforting our souls. The white of the flower feels like the soul arising, smooth petals laughing with joy. I photographed this flower in the Raleigh Rose Garden, a place I have loved for years.
