Dahlia Joy

Dahlia Joy is a beautiful flower from the garden of my daughter's school. As she was being tutored for dyslexia, I photographed the garden. We were in new territory - uneasiness, grief, the discovery that this bright girl had a language problem. But since then the blessings have been overflowing. Dahlia Joy is the blessing and wonder awaiting us in the midst of grief and difficulty.

Let Your Light Shine

Let Your Light Shine is a beautiful flower from the garden of my daughter's school. As she was being tutored for dyslexia, I photographed the garden. We were in new territory - uneasiness, grief, the discovery that this bright girl had a language problem. But since then the blessings have been overflowing. Let Your Light Shine is what I have always known I need to do but didn't know how and it is what my daughter's school is allowing her to do at an early age. We walk the halls and are reminded by many positive signs that these children and bright and hold great promise for themselves and the world They already are letting their light shine to lead the way for themselves and others.

Night Fantasy

I have always marvelled at how Van Gogh, Monet and other artists went to a field and saw the flowers that we all see and then paint them in marvellous ways that touch our souls. But I think that's the magic of flowers - we get both the actual experience of experiencing the beauty of flowers in the moment and then to express with our souls the glorious afterglow of the brown eye susan or the sweetness of honeysuckle that remains in our souls. It reminds me of all that's right in the world and the restorative nature of nature.

Honey in the Cross

There's nothing I love as much as honeysuckle. I wait for its sweet smell. And Tender little flowers that bloom wildly along our hedges. Once it starts growing it's hard to stop. It's like when we reach out to love one another. I remember once I suggested we plant honeysuckle and my father aghast because honeysuckle is hard to control. But isn't that the point? Love is destined to grow and envelop all of us. It's hard to control
