My New's Years Resolution was to be a better mom, but I was trying to change my kiddo, trying to get her to listen. I have followed through on my resolution - I am a better mom. But not because I changed my kiddo, I changed me. Thanks for a parenting teenagers class, my kiddo is thriving and things are a lot calmer. All it took was a great book, Positive Discipline, a wonderful teacher and a change in me.
I entered this year with us fussing at each other and me wondering what happened to my sweet child. Some days still stink, but by learning to appreciate that this young teenager is growing into adulthood and separating and determining who she is, I am watching a beautiful flower blossom. Into a competent young lady who might make mistakes, who loves to dance and has out of control awesome beauty inside and out.
