| A Mother's Grace |
I totally love this quote and I think for mothers it's as if that being a mother has driven a road down the center of my soul. It's a road that sometimes has been muddy and has been washed away with sorrow and grief. When my father died, I cleaned the house (and I really am not that fond of cleaning) for a month until I could find my road again. And sometimes, it's been full of potholes, with us bumping and hitting the top of our heads as I figured out how to earn an income - I am not quite there yet, but I totally love painting flowers. And then there's the times when I saw the lines on the road and learned to forgive others and forgive myself, seeing the best in all of us.
And this road we're on, mother and daughter, it's a beautiful road full of twists and turns. The only map I have is to follow roads that lead to forgiveness, fun, believing in one another, and listening without speaking. And honoring her and honoring myself.
Motherhood has driven a road down the middle of my brain and my heart. And I am grateful for it. It's as if there are diamonds on the souls of my shoes and jewels of sweet kids and moms that light the way -
